Among its administrative features, it includes handling clients, suppliers, issued and received documents, cash control, quotations, inventory, and reports, among others. As for electronic billing, it includes everything required by law 20.727, i.e., the generation of electronic invoices, credit notes, debit notes, as well as electronic purchase and sales records.
Facto is a high-impact project and is supported by CORFO as the winner of its Capital Semilla competition.
Apart from the SII system, which is free but not an administration system, and does not include basic features such as a client database or details of unpaid documents, in general, the offering of Electronic Billing in Chile is based on 2 models: either you pay a small amount monthly forever, or you pay a high amount for a license for which you must pay an annual fee for updates and support. Facto has no monthly fees or activation costs. It also has no limitations on users or documents issued per month, which already sets it apart from the traditional model.
Facto is a network of useful services for small businesses, helping them to grow. This includes integrations with e-commerce, mobile applications, financing systems, and other non-mandatory electronic documents (including electronic export invoices, electronic receipts, electronic dispatch guides, and electronic invoice settlements). These services are offered by OML or other associated companies and are always optional. Generally, they are paid only once to enable them, and offering them allows us to finance the free use of the platform for all other companies.
Currently, 98% of Facto's user companies have never requested an additional service and have access to the full range of administrative and billing features without paying anything. And it will continue to be so in the future.
Facto began as a project years ago, and it was a development that we initially created for our own needs. At that time, we were starting and quickly faced a series of management challenges: maintaining the client list, knowing which documents were paid and which were unpaid, generating quotations, and managing inventory were significant problems that were impossible to control based on Excel. So we started developing a small tool that could do all this and also handle electronic invoicing, something that was almost unknown in SMEs at that time.
At that time, one of our most important clients approached our company; they were a large importer. They requested our software after seeing it by chance. We provided a quote (at that time, the software was not free, in fact, it was not even for sale), and it was successfully implemented. The company still uses it to this day.
Based on this and a series of other circumstances, we realized the great need that existed, and there came the audacious moment... we want all SMEs to comply with Law 20.727, which makes electronic invoicing mandatory, and also have a complete administration system like this, which empowers them to organize and grow without payment being an impediment... It is decided, Facto will be free!
Offering free software entails a series of major challenges. On the one hand, having a highly reliable and low-cost platform led us to enter into an agreement with Google to use their platform, and on the other hand, ensuring that people can manage their platform themselves to control support costs, which is reflected in our support systems and also in the effort we have made to make Facto as user-friendly as possible. You won't find our phone number on our website because unfortunately, it is impossible to provide phone support for such a massive free service, but if our online help and manual are not enough, we will assist you via email.
In 2014, we won the CORFO Capital Semilla innovation competition, which validated our model and the great contribution it can make to all SMEs and entrepreneurs in Chile, and provided us with the funding to set up the necessary infrastructure to serve thousands of companies.
Currently, small businesses and entrepreneurs from all over Chile use Facto, and every month we release new versions with new features available to all our users.
